Hebden Bridge has lost a phone mast. No prior warning just everyone on some networks like O2 just losing signal overnight. But hey the Government wants us all to have digital ID so that’s alright even if we can no longer even access the internet! #rural #connectivity #DigtialID
“The first digital ID launches today” no wonder there is some misinformation when the public has zero idea what digital ID means or when it’s coming. Does the Government even know what they mean by this scheme?
Will it be federated as this press article claims or involve centralisation of data as the Labour briefing to MP states. I fear over time it will mean more and more function creep and data sharing. https://news.sky.com/story/the-first-digital-id-launches-today-13451263 #digtialID

I keep hearing about Estonia’s ID system as a model for U.K. One key difference when considering this. The U.K. now has weaker data protection laws than EU GDPR due to the Data use and access act. We also have other laws which undermine privacy such as investigatory powers act, online safety act etc. This means even a technically similar system would now pose more risk to people in the U.K. #DigtialID #Estonia #Privacy
