I have a question for anyone who's either playing or completed #bloodlines2: How much does the game's story follow the plot of #VTMBloodlines?

My biggest concern about buying it (ASIDE from the $80 price tag and the years in #Developmenthell) was the story in the trailers seemed almost identical to the first game.

You had #Camarilla taking over #Anarch turf (on the #WestCoast, no less), a ship drifting ominously off the shore, and you, a #fledgeling thrown in the middle of this whole mess.

I was thinking about some of my old experiences with some small studios in the past, and recalled an incident with collecting any feedback.

You know there’s something really wrong going on when a studio gets only 1 person to play the whole game, then proceeds to call it a “playtest”, and then takes all, and I mean all the feedback from that person as a holy grail of truth.🙄🙄🙄

Yeah… Fun times.

We worked on a project for 3 months with continuous stakeholder input, creating and sending SRS and SDS documents. We held multiple meetings to agree on the design. As the deadline approached, meetings turned tense. In the final week, the team worked tirelessly, switching from App Runner to EC2s, and deployed the beta.

Despite our efforts, we were accused of "doing our own thing" and "missing the deadline" 7 days later. Stakeholders and team members had to reassure me.

Now, we *may* still have the source code around. We do have a VSS archive from the right period but it's obfuscated -- no useful file names or suffixes, just thousands upon thousands of files randomly sorted with names like "zaadaaa", "saddaaa" and so on. It's a mess.

The lead developer took one look at the situation and said "I'll decompile the existing DLL and work backwards from there."

I guess we'll see what happens. Stay tuned!

Okay Mastodon, I'm going to throw this question out there and see what happens. Boosts appreciated.

Q: When did the term "development hell" first come into use in Hollywood? I assume it was used in meeting rooms before it saw print in the trade papers, and was likely changed to "development purgatory/limbo" when it did appear in print. But if any Hollywood historians can point to actual instances, that would be cool.

@argentum That's kinda what happens when you build sprawling housing in actual deserts.

American housing development makes absolutely no sense in any sustainability metric.
