Happy #MissionMonday ULA and our heritage rockets have launched key spacecraft in the field of solar science studies (@NASASun) including: ☀️SOHO and the Solar Dynamics Observatory (#Atlas) ☀️ACE and STEREO (#DeltaII) ☀️Parker Solar Probe (#DeltaIVHeavy) ☀️Solar Orbiter
Once again, the final #DeltaIVHeavy #launch is upon us.
The #DeltaIV has always been, in my opinion, the classiest looking EELV.
The #Delta IV and its predecessors have made incredible contributions to #science and #spaceflight.
A #ThorDelta launched #Echo1, the first comm #satellite. #DeltaII launched missions to #Mars and began building the #GPS system.
The Delta family will be missed.
The #engine compartment of a #Delta II launch #vehicle.
The #DeltaII’s main #engine was a #Rocketdyne RS-27 #rocket engine derived from engines going back to before the Saturn I.
The #RS27 can be supplemented by up to 9 Solid Rocket Boosters.
Three #SRB’s are installed on this display of the last Delta II #LaunchVehicle remaining. It’s on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex.
