#LinuxMint seems to be my new home. I was running #LMDE for quite a while (because fuck Canonical pushing snaps bullshit), then went to #ArchLinux and installed Cinnamon over top to emulate Mint... but decided that defaults matter and life is too short, so a week later I have now paved over Arch and a couple of hours in I am back to a far better working desktop in Mint 22. I mean, Ubuntu with a better DE and no snaps is basically all I need, it found printers and samba shares on the network immediately with no issue. Sorted.

#DefaultsMatter, because while *some* people are confident enough to fiddle with them, many people are not. And it should not be necessary for them.

Everyone deserves software already configured for #UserNeeds, not some #Feudal master.

No, let's not "recommend" auto-play of arbitrary animated images, sent by whoever in the timeline.

Just because it's typical on centralised platforms, doesn't make it a good default for the #Fediverse.
