The suspension of Professor Nadira Shalhub-Kevorkian without a hearing is part of a long history of silencing and politically persecuting those critical of Israel's treatment of Palestinians, contradicting the university's claimed commitment to inclusion and diversity.

The Hebrew University is not only ignoring but also complicit in the oppression of Palestinians in East Jerusalem neighborhoods near its campus. Its president hypocritically touts academic freedom while targeting faculty members like Dr. Carola Hilfrich, who fell victim to a right-wing smear campaign.

The university persecutes political organizing by Palestinian students while granting academic credit for volunteering with the right-wing "Im Tirtzu" group. Despite objections, the university maintains close cooperation with the Israeli military.

Alarmingly, the university has remained silent as Israel bombs educational institutions in Gaza. The accusation that Shalhub-Kevorkian engaged in "anti-Zionist incitement" by describing Israel's actions in Gaza as genocide echoes concerns raised by international bodies seriously examining these allegations.
