My dad's LCVP. I can't imagine getting in one of these to cross the English Channel. Thinking about all of the young men who volunteered, 81 years ago today.

Today 6th June marks the 81st Anniversary of D-Day.
The June 6, 1944, D-Day invasion of Nazi-occupied France used the largest-ever armada of ships, troops, planes and vehicles to breach Hitler's defenses in western Europe. A total of 4,414 Allied troops were killed on D-Day itself. In the ensuing Battle of Normandy, 73,000 Allied forces were killed and 153,000 wounded. #WW2 #ddayanniversary
In Remembrance of the #DDayAnniversary I'm sharing some of the photos I took on 9/15/22 when visiting the D-Day Beaches. Lest we forget... We owe an immense debt to the bravery exhibited on this hallowed day in history, that altered the course of the war and history. 🙏🏻🇺🇲🇬🇧🇨🇦🫡

Another clip suggests Biden tried to sit in a non-existent chair. The full footage shows he paused before sitting down simultaneously with Macron and their spouses. The chair was always there, just partially obscured. #FactCheck #DdayAnniversary

Amid the somber D-Day anniversary commemorations came some joy, as a 100-year-old U.S. veteran returned to Normandy to marry his 96-year-old bride. Harold Terens was a radio operator mechanic who traveled to Normandy to transport freed American prisoners of war to England, and wanted to marry in Normandy to have the soldiers killed on D-Day attend in spirit. "I want them to know that they're not forgotten, he told NBC News. He met his bride, Jeanne Swerlin, in 2021, after his wife of 70 years died. "Love is not only for the young. We still get butterflies," Swerlin said. "We get a little action also."

reflections on #DDayAnniversary.
The "greatest generation" came home from war glad to be alive & needing to honor the fallen by living a good life. The Boomers learned by example & by growing up with things like scouting. They learned that helping others was valuable. Somehow each succeeding generation have diminished those values more & more & become progressively more selfish. Not all but way too many.

The question we must solve is how to get back to the values, the selflessness of the past

This is such a gross failure of recognition. I guess you could make the case that Canada wasn't a country then. However, it is disingenuous and disrespectful not to distinguish Canada for it’s own war effort. #cdnpoli #ddayanniversary #RishiOut

Greenbaum charged the stage tried to grab the mic while yelling "Down with Hitler! Down with Hitler!" and subsequently brutally beaten by the uniformed Nazis on stage. He was arrested and fined $25.
Superheroes don't all wear capes, war heros don't even have to wear a uniform.

On this anniversary of D-day, let's remember all of those who had the courage to be against fascism, anti-fascism or antifa, and be antifa going forward.
