This is such a gross failure of recognition. I guess you could make the case that Canada wasn't a country then. However, it is disingenuous and disrespectful not to distinguish Canada for it’s own war effort. #cdnpoli #ddayanniversary #RishiOut
@ThisIsWillAdams The Canadian forces were critical to the success of D-Day. They should always receive equal recognition. The Free French and the French underground are also often left out of the D-Day acknowledgments. The “victors” get to write the history, including which allies to conveniently leave out. Sad and unfortunate.
@ThisIsWillAdams Canada absolutely was its own country by the time WWII rolled around. The Statute of Westminster, passed in 1931, gave Canada control of our own foreign policy. In fact, Canada declared war on Japan before Britain did.
