Um einen alten Joystick, wie den Competition Pro, an einen modernen PC anzuschließen, brauchen man einen Adapter. Das liegt daran, dass die alten Joysticks von Heimcomputern eine Schnittstelle haben, die heutige Computer nicht mehr haben. Im Internet finden sich viele Vorschläge. Ich möchte heute einen sehr interessanten Adapter vorstellen.

Dieser kleine Bastelspaß stellt einen kleinen Adapter her, mit dem man alte Joysticks an USB anschließen kann.Damit kann man alten Spielen wieder das klassische “Gameplay” zurück bringen.

At the end, all will fit in this enclosure (there was an adsl filter inside). I made some holes for the usb and the reset button. The front hole contained two rj11 sockets, I cut the central divisor and obtained a hole the perfect size for the #uart to #rs232 #db9 connector.
Most of my #retrocomputing gear has the old #db25 connector, so I'll need an adapter anyway...
