Whereas yesterday's outfit was kept monochrome is this a complete match with a bike. Frame and polo match and so do cap, shorts, tires and pannier bag. Here again eveything well chosen for consistancy.

The bike with the steel frame and thiner tubes looks more more structured. And where as yesterday's bike with the black paint contrasted her outfit comes today's bike in a lighter grey. This integrated the bike into the outfit. Could be boring but for sure is a understated classic look. Plus: imagine some groceries and flowers in the bag.

I very muched enjoyed seeing the couple arriving by bike to Saturday's market on Exerzierplatz.

She kept one tone that is also found in her bike's tires. Light, clean, understated with breathable fabrics. Effortless on a first hot summer day.
The bike: functional step through city bike, again effortless. A style developed from consistancy.

So I have seen him cycling up and down, just enjoying the ride while talking to someone on his in ears. Not a problem in a low traffic area I’d say. A joy ride, enjoying spring with fresh air and warm sun, enjoying looking good, enjoying a e-bike with road bike flair, probably enjoying to be seen as well. Enjoying cycling because you can.

Earthy tones set the scene: beige, olive, black. Cord trousers add weight, a simple all‑weather jacket keeps the line clear. Petrol appears in the bike frameand in the socks – held against the look by white shoes as a light counterpoint. The bicycle is not separate from the outfit. It belongs to it, carrying colour, rhythm and intent through the frame.

With the #panning - following the moving object while taking a picture - it is more difficul than I would have thought getting the object sharp while bluring the background in motion blur. First one has to be constantly following the object and keep it in the centre of focus. Autofocus comes in very handy here because following the cyclists is using all my cognitive abilities. Especially because you would not follow the object with a constant speed. Even if the cyclist would move with constant velocity the camera will have to move faste the closer a by pathing cyclist is.

But even when I manage to follow the moving object an find it to be sharp on the picture I find that even with one single object I see variatons of sharp areas and others in motion blur. I am not only talking about the legs pushing the pedals and therfore moving in different velocities than cyclist and bicylce. On this picture you may find her jeans and jacket to be sharp but but, face and the front of the bike are not.

With this picture I tried a shutter speed of 1/15 of a second. So far I have found 1/30 to 1/60 to be enough for some good motion blur in the background but I wonder if I could improve the panning to achieve even that rather long exposure, because the background at 1/15 is not just blury it shows long horizontal lines that could look even better if I have some lights or single spots in the background.

Could cycling in the snow be better looking?

I come to a point where I want to own an all black bicycle with all black parts and an all black children seat, an all black coat, black shoes, black gloves and a black hat.

Here we have a dash of colour with brown shoes and brown socks. And then this Omnium - many bicycles look great when hanging on the wall in one’s livingroom but Omnium are some of the prettiest bicycles while in motion. The design looks complete with a person riding it.
