First run after 2 weeks of post-marathon recovery. Just wonderful to be on the road again. Lots of sun and shiny happy people (as today is a day-off in DK).
Distance: 6.63k
Pace: 5'17"
High: the feeling of sun on my skin
Low: still slight ache in my left foot (collateral from #CphMarathon)
Purpose: have fun, check in with my form, and start practicing for Helsingborg Marathon (#runhbgm, Sep. 7) #EveryRunHasAPurpose
Next race: Solrød Rundt Løbet, 12k (T minus 33 days)
Here we go again.
Running the #CphMarathon was such a good experience that I wanted to do it again. Took some time to find the right race - but lo and behold, I just signed up for the Helsingborg Marathon in September. Looking forward to this and to getting back on the starting line.
#runhbgm in T minus 112 days.
Funny thing, even though part 4 of my #CphMarathon was very hard physically, I was always on top of things mentally. I still enjoyed it (granted, not as much as before), and I never contemplated quitting. I was at peace with not finishing in the time I had hoped for. It was what it was.
The only disappointment was that the #NikeRunClub app messed things up and didn't track the race...
The last km, I could run faster, finishing with a roar!
So how did #CphMarathon go for me? (continued)
Part 4 went haywire. At 30k, we turned a corner and now faced tough headwind, so things got a lot harder. 36k: the rain started. A decision four hrs earlier caught up with me: I wore t-shirt instead of long-sleeve #running jacket; it was not the right attire. In no time, I was soaked, so cold I was shaking. Legs didn't play along. I feared hyperthermia, turned to running/walking very slowly. I was toast.

Part 3 went great. I accelerated slightly as I pursued negative split. Felt great, ran with a big smile on my face. Around 29k, legs started to feel a little sore - but there was my wife (surprise!) and she injected new energy into my race. She is the best.
I was on track. I was (or felt like) a golden god of running. I got this.
Then I turned the corner of Enghavevej and Ingerslevsgade...

So how did #CphMarathon go for me?
I had divided it into four parts of 10k (plus the 2.195k cool-down, @recollir). I had decided to take in fuel at all depots, and also did that.
Part 1 went great. Easy pace, stayed exactly on target (I usually start out too fast, but not today), found my place in the group.
Part 2 went great. Easy pace, stayed exactly on target and in my group. What a party at Dronning Louises Bro and Nørrebrogade.

#CphMarathon done!!
This was fun! And hard! But mostly fun. The feeling I have now (apart from *very* sore legs) is that I want to do this again.
My goal: to cross the starting line ✅
My hope: to enjoy the race ✅
My pipe dream: to finish in 4:15:00 or less ❌
I finished in 4:38:25. Not as fast as hoped for, but who cares? I'm beyond proud and happy.
A big thank you to the cheering crowds of Copenhagen. You were chaos, you were revelry.
