As a Europe-resident Brit I tried to open a joint business account (with a UK-resident) in a UK high street bank about 10 years ago. No way, José. Despite me being solvent and always have been (lucky me, really).

That Faragé can't have an account at Coutts doesn't surprise me. Banks are very risk-averse. Who needs hassle unless there's really big money in it?
