A captivating corner of Hardwick Hall Country Park, taken on the May Bank Holiday weekend just over a week ago.
It's a view that looks almost timeless, except that it is part of an entirely man-made landscape dating from the 18th century.
It was a wealthy businessman from Tyneside named John Burdon, who developed the grounds, creating a 17-acre ornamental lake by adding an artificial river leading to it and encircling it with a walkway.

73. Locks

🧠 I wanted to make it look like the locks went on forever.

⭐I think the blurring works well to exaggerate the amount of locks at the end.

➡️ Maybe I should have picked one of the foreground locks to really focus on as a subject.

72. Waterfall

🧠 This was my first time properly trying motion blurred water. I thought the setting was perfect for it.

⭐I'm pleased with how crisp the still elements are with the slow shutter speed needed to blur the water.

➡️ I want to try to get a smoother look to moving water - might be better on a shallow river.

Walkway through marshy woodland, Bolam Lake, Northumberland, on a dreich day. #Landscape #Woodland #Wetland #BlackAndWhite #BW #Photography #Northumberland #Park #Walkway #NatureReserve #CountryPark #BolamLake

Did Ingrebourne Hill again but today two circuits in 1 hour 15 minutes this time which is 2.67 mph and exactly what Google Maps directions say an average walking speed on the route would be.

Extremely surprised, but met one of the goals for this #exercise malarky.

Attached: 1 image Twice over and around Ingrebourne Hill. The bit measured 3.34 miles (5.37 km), 1 hour 40, 2.00 mph (3.22 kmh), 75% of Google's prediction. I thought I might have got faster as I walked off the ache of yesterday's effort, but no, each circuit took exactly 50 mins. #exercise #walking #CountryParks

Mastodon 🐘

On this morning's walk I saw a pair of foxes and a colony of rabbits, stood for 10 minutes watching and listening to a wren singing, seen 3 species of goose fly overhead and been ambushed by a black cat.

All in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

How was your morning?
