@ChrisMayLA6

This is significant because #simonfletcher - the author of the piece - was part of the #starmer team until the summer of 2021. Also worth looking at is the critique of #starmer by #stephenbush in the #ft this weekend. From provenance much further left comes 'The Fraud - Keir Starmer, Labour Together and the Crisis of British Democracy' by #paulholden. Although written from a #corbynista perspective it seems likely to contain a lot of verifiable - and even verified - material.

@ChrisMayLA6

They are there because groups like #labourtogether and the heroically misnamed #labourtowin saw them as useful auxiliaries against their #corbynista opponents - just as the latter earlier on had made use of some pretty unpleasant groupuscules themselves. History is littered with cases where supposed auxiliaries get out of hand - the #freikorps in the early #weimarrepublic being the classic example!

@ChrisMayLA6

And #stevecowan the council leader there is not easy to dismiss as a #corbynista since he predates the #jeremycorbyn era!

@paulb3017 a sneaky bit of mischief specifically aimed at embarrassing the government hardly a week into its tenure. They knew it would not pass, they knew some #corbynista would vote for it which would test #stamers grip on the party. It was a stunt. It had nothing to do with their concern for child poverty. But it does allow for a pompous high ground from which to point a sinewy finger.

I don’t blame you for not grasping the politics at play here. It’s quite devious.

The SNP bill was a sneaky bit of mischief. However, it exposed the #corbynista rump for what they are and allowed #starmer to stamp his authority nice and early.

They can go sit in the cheap seats with the Messiah of Finsbury Park for 6 months - or His Second Coming, which ever is first.

#ukpolitics #labour

Are the #corbynista really trying to spin this as a disastrous result for Labour?

Repeat after me
2017 bad result for labour
2019 bad result
2024 good result

#corbyn #labour #ukpolitics #generalelection

Well isn’t #mastodon full of a lot of mealy mouthed #corbynista. You can cut the baked in resentment with a knife.

@Colman @ChrisMayLA6

The #UK has changed, & if #Labour doesn't change & evolve with it, it will die. The #UK is a Social Democratic country, which lurched to the extremes with disastrous consequences.

We had the ERG/Tories on the far right, & the #Corbynista/Momentum caucus on the far left. #Starmer has steered Labour back to the centre, & I suspect that the one nation Tories will inherit the #CONservatives after #GE2024 & steer them back to the centre too.

Thankfully Starmer got there 1st

@Wen @CloudyMrs @Theriac @soren

There's several reasons why this could happen, as with a recent case in #Liverpool, where the proposed candidate was an anti #Starmer #Corbynista throwback to the #Militant 80s.

The local CLP were at war with each other, & almost fell apart until the PLP stepped in. The fella was a radical #Socialist extremist, who was better suited to #Momentum, the #NIP or #Galloway's Workers Party.

Today's #Labour is a #Social #Democrat party of #Centrist doctrine.

@jackLondon

1/ The far left were at pains to point out that party membership plummeted from 580k to 350k after #Cobyn departed.

I've had several discussions with #Corbynista's who told me they left because of Centrist treachery within #Labour against Corbyn, which cost him the election. 😳

Others cited the Forde Report, #Starmer himself, the 10 pledges & him deviating from Corbyn's losing 2019 manifesto, where previously he'd promised to stick with Corbynism if elected. 🤷🏾‍♂️
