I think that trying to "fix" Turmpism in order to win the next US presidential election is the wrong approach.

It does not matter if it is possible *in theory* to fix it. In practice, you don't have the resources and time to do it prior to the next election.

The Democrats have to offer something more than a conservative-lite platform. In particular, they have to appeal to young voters.

If you fixate on trying to fix Trumpism, you're going to lose.
