Evolution and lineage dynamics of a transmissible cancer in Tasmanian devils
Tasmanian devils are threatened by devil facial tumour 1 (DFT1), a transmissible cancer clone that spreads between animals by biting. A new study of more than six hundred DFT1 tumour genomes reveals this cancer’s evolution and lineage dynamics over a fifteen year period.
