update: when trying to go back to the us, customs yanked me out of my car because they (allegedly) mistook me for another person with my name who's a wanted felon flagged armed and dangerous.

There's a cool book called Escape From Evil by Ernest Becker that talks about everything happening nowadays. The only impressive thing about it is the shamelessness, but I don't think they're smart enough to see it, to see who they are.
