@MLNow My mother used to take me to a #ChineseOpera for company when I was a child but I hated it because I didn't speak or understand the language (& still don't beyond a very rudimentary level) & the because the sound was so "foreign" & unappealing to me. 🤷‍♂️

I couldn't even stand to listen to the entirety of the short Chinese Opera audio clip embedded in this article. 🤢

She stopped taking me any Chinese opera performances because I was very vocal about not liking it &, unlike my inability to speak #Cantonese better, I do not regret not attending another Chinese Opera performance since.

OBTW, I don't much like attending or listening to European Opera either. 🤷‍♂️
