Pentagon's Secret Anti-Vax Campaign Against Chinese Vaccines in Asia & Middle East Discovered
According to a Reuters exclusive, the US Military engaged in a wide-ranging clandestine disinformation campaign in response to Chinese propaganda about the origin of the COVID-19 virus. The campaign started during the Trump administration and was continued until terminated by the Biden administration in mid-2021, and broadly targeted audiences across the Middle East and Asia on numerous social media platforms with native language posts.
Over 300 accounts on X (neé Twitter) were created in the summer of 2020, and wrote in Tagalog, pushing the hashtag “#ChinaAngVirus”, which translates to “China is the virus.” The accounts were removed by X after Reuters asked about them, claiming they were part of a coordinated bot campaign. In Muslim countries, assertions were made by these accounts that the Chinese vaccine contained pork gelatin, which would make it “haram” under Islamic law.
China mounted a large campaign to provide masks, ventilators, and China-produced vaccines to developing countries in early 2020. The Chinese-mad Sinovac was the primary vaccine available in the Philippines until US-mad vaccines were available there in early 2022.
