Tri-D Chess - the three-dimensional variant played across multiple boards stacked vertically - is one of the most fascinating strategy games out there. Have you ever played a chess variant with non-standard pieces and thought "I wish there were even more non-standard pieces in this game?" Have you ever looked at the massive swath of chess variants and said "Could we combine these all into one game?"

Presenting Custom Chess, a new chess variant!

At the start of the game, players take turns designing new chess pieces using the provided Character Creator. Players then place their custom pieces on the starting rows, and then play chess, with the goal of checkmating your opponent's lichpin.

The current version of the rules are version 0.0.1. On my longterm roadmap are plans for custom non-rectangular boards (which the players will take turns designing in the game), Fluxx-style changes to the game objectives, and further customization options for the character creator.
