A poche ore dall’incontro decisivo sul futuro di Forza Italia tra Marina Berlusconi e Antonio Tajani, la sua è una voce che pesa dentro al partito. È stato Roberto Occhiuto, governatore della Calabria, il primo a mettere in discussione la leadership del vicepremier azzurro. Entra alla Camera per un saluto veloce a Matilde Siracusano, la sua compagna nonchè sottosegretaria alla presidenza del Consiglio. Si ferma alla buvette con il deputato forzista Alessandro Cattaneo e dice di voler “parlare solo di Calabria”. Si rallegra per l’uscita dal commissariamento della Sanità calabrese certificata giovedì dal Consiglio dei ministri e della sua proposta con cui viene istituito un “reddito di merito” per gli studenti della regione. Ma, incalzato dai cronisti, non può fare a meno di dire due parole anche su Forza Italia.
Premette che ha fiducia in Tajani c’è “sempre”, ma poi se gli si domanda cosa ne pensa del cambio dei capogruppo Maurizio Gasparri e Paolo Barelli il governatore della Calabria allarga le braccia: “Beh, diciamo che io ho dato una scossa…”. E quale sarebbe il nome come capogruppo per sostituire Barelli? Si parla di Enrico Costa in pole position: “Io il capogruppo l’ho fatto e mi è bastato – scherza Occhiuto –, comunque tutti i nomi di Forza Italia vanno bene…”. Insomma, Barelli ormai è già considerato il passato.

Just hours before the decisive meeting between Marina Berlusconi and Antonio Tajani on the future of Forza Italia, his voice carries weight within the party. It was Roberto Occhiuto, governor of Calabria, who was the first to question the leadership of the blue deputy prime minister. He enters the Chamber for a quick greeting to Matilde Siracusano, his partner and undersecretary of the President of the Council. He stops at the bar with the Forza Italia MP Alessandro Cattaneo and says he wants to “talk only about Calabria.” He celebrates the release from the health commissioner ship of Calabria, certified on Thursday by the Council of Ministers, and his proposal to establish a “merit income” for students in the region. But, pressed by journalists, he can’t resist saying a few words about Forza Italia either.
He admits that he has confidence in Tajani “always,” but when asked what he thinks about the changes in group leaders Maurizio Gasparri and Paolo Barelli, the governor of Calabria spreads his arms: “Well, let’s say I gave a shock…”. Conte ha parlato anche di politica estera. “Lei ancora oggi è completamente confusa, fa la critica a Sanchez. Ma qui non si tratta di scegliere tra Sanchez e Orban, deve scegliere la Costituzione – ha detto Conte – lei ha giurato sulla Costituzione”. E ha continuato su Trump: “Nessuno osa contraddire il Capo ed è ancora più grave quando a non contraddire il Capo è una leader di un Paese del G7. La sua subalternità è ignobile. Lei sta contribuendo a distruggere il diritto internazionale. Se Trump attacca illegalmente il Venezuela e lei dice ‘ è legittima difesa’, lei lo incoraggia. Se di fronte al genocidio lei non interrompe la cooperazione militare con Netanyahu e rimane silente e complice, lei incoraggia un genocidio. Se di fronte a Trump dice ‘non condivido e non condanno’, lei contribuisce a distruggere il diritto internazionale”.
Conte ha quindi concluso: “Ci ha sfidato più volte, ma guardi che se ci vuole sfidare qui ha avuto già tante proposte concrete. La smetta con le menzogne. Gli italiani le hanno dato la sveglia. Noi siamo pronti per la sfida progressista e la manderemo a casa con gli italiani, perché non ne possono più”.
