So, has anyone written a good guide for parsing a privacy policy to spot the things they're trying to sneak past the average punter. I'm currently researching for an new EV but finding that privacy is rarely covered in discussions (I've only seen Mozilla Foundation and Choice cover it at all).

Especially interested in anything relating to EVs in Australia.

Spoiler: Not a single brand received Mozilla’s Best Of designation, though researchers identified Renault as the least problematic. The European brand must comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a stringent law governing the way in which personal data is used, processed, and stored.

🚗 Your car might know where you sleep. Literally.

Modern vehicles collect your driving habits, phone data—even pinpoint your home based on where you park.
📌 Privacy settings do exist, but they’re buried deep in menus.
📌 No federal law requires auto brands to protect your data.
📌 The FTC is watching, but until then—you should be too.

Your car knows more about you than your best friend.

Modern vehicles log your location, driving habits, voice commands, and even sync your contacts. Some send it all back to manufacturers—or worse, to third parties.

📌 Unpair your phone when renting or selling.
📌 Review your car’s data settings.
📌 Privacy isn’t just for phones.
