J'avais ces petites clés trop chouchou, trouvées je ne sais où, que je gardais au chaud depuis des années.

Elles rendent trop bien en boucles d'oreilles 😍

Knitting Adventures: Norne Jakke by Linda Orvedal Part II

After finishing the second sleeve rather fast, small 3 mm circulars are amazing for sleeves (i always use a smaller needle size for the sleeves), i then started with the last part of the cardigan, the neck band. Oh boy.

First i tried it as written in the instructions, pick up every other stitch around the neck edge, calculate how many pattern repeats you need and then knit the neckband onto the neck edge with the help of the picked up stitches. I tried it, but couldn´t get it right. Maybe i was to tired or just confused, but i decided to knit it separately.

At first it was great to knit something else than stockinette, but after a few pattern repeats it got a bit annoying. I ended up knitting 16 and a half repeats, but inbetween i blocked it and measured the length i had and the length i needed. It was a bit weird, because with the first try i calculated that i needed about 9 and a half. I guess it really makes a difference if you knit the neckband separate or onto the cardigan.

I think i have to look into different methods of casting off, because my edge always get a bit „stretched out“, although i try to cast off quite tightly. After finishing the neckband i blocked it with steam, worked fine with the cotton yarn. and then i wove in all ends…which there were many! Which is also a thing i have to look up, maybe i find a better way to weave in ends, because with cotton yarn, those tend to look quite weird and not definitely not perfect (but it is on the inside).

Before blocking…the first part till the marker was already blocked previously.

The last step was to sew the neckband onto the cardigan, which took forever, because i like to use a backstitch. After that i was finally finished. Started on the 10th of October and finished on the 29th of November…took me long enough.

It still looks a bit wonky here.

I have now soaked it in some hot water and once it is dry, i will steam block it one last time.
This means one gift is finished.

I already started a new knitting project, which is again fingering weight yarn…but i think i will start another one, because i desire a project with bulky weight yarn. I just can´t knit two big garments in fingering weight, one after another.

Short blog post this week, but thank you for reading. Till next time!

Found some old random fabric I had laying around for ages so I made a little guy with that. The last time I made a plush was in 2013 so this is far from perfect but I think they're still pretty cute.

Porridge spoon with chip carving decorations, carved from a birch crook.

This Sunday my Swedish porridge bowl, that I think is from the 1920s, rhymes in the following way:

Gröten alla dyrka
Gröt ger mod och styrka
Och hvar menska hull
Och i julehelgen
Brukar man få bälgen
Af den rätten full

(English translation is difficult, help is much appreciated)

@Armavica My first attempts at the crease patterns (CP) turned out OK. I usually prefer folding from diagrams instead of CPs, but a CP is better than no instructions at all.

The cover was more interesting to fold that the base; perhaps the base would have been as interesting as the base if a good folding sequence were shown.

Hm. Looking at the photos, it seems like one of you two has have gotten the base the wrong way around?
Like, looking at Virgile's yellow box's side, you can see the "trapezoid" part is outside; while on Foldwork's photo, the "trapezoid" part is inside!
In the photos below, I folded it both ways; Foldwork's on the left, Virgile's on the right. Virgile's was much easier!
...the two bases actually fit in each other, without needing to fold the harder cover crease pattern.

@foldworks @Armavica Looking at the base's crease pattern, I think @foldworks 's base is folded in the right direction; while both my right base and @Armavica 's have all the thirds' mountain folds turned into valley folds (and vice versa) 🤔 But—not sure, haven't worked with crease patterns much 😅

@bojidar_bg @Armavica I took the red lines to be valleys, so the base is essentially a cube; the the flaps are folded over leaving tips to to tuck into pockets.

The pictures above the crease pattern show the inside of the base as all grey, which is probably a more pleasing appearance?
