Made this in Processing using a frame buffer where each point was made to be part of any number of rectangles, and the color of an intersecting region is obtained by adding up the colors of the component rectangles and performing a modulus operation.

The algorithmic temperature chart progresses – I've done down to the 24th January, with the grey blanks in for the first 24 days of the other quarters of the year. I can see there's going to be some quite colourful bits later in the year.
