Memories of when I was a junior IT heldesk in the early 2010s and had people calling me an idiot for not knowing what Class C meant in a network
@[email protected]:Happy #CIDRDay, everyone!

Today in 1993, Class A, B, and C addresses were deprecated in favor of classless addresses.

If a computer person talks about Class C addresses, they are not competent

In the spirit of #CIDRDay, you are permitted to use the minimum amount of violence necessary to make that stop.

It might be quite a bit of violence, mind you. So long as it's the smallest amount required.

Happy #CIDRDay, everyone!

Happy #CIDRDay, folks!

RFC 1519 was published on this day in 1993, eliminating classful networking.

That was 27 years ago. If anyone mentions Class C addressing, you are permitted to smack them in the face with a fish.

Reminder: today is the 26th anniversary of CIDR, also known as #CIDRDay.

If someone mentions classist IP addressing in your presence, you may legally slap them until they stop. #sysadmin #netadmin

Also: next Tuesday, 24 September, is #CIDRDay. Celebrate with a cider, and slapping anyone who says anything about classful networking.

A good, oddball week. Happy #CIDRDay! Exploring OmniOS in a VM. Endless amounts of Commodore 64 games, in-browser.  (via many places) Dangit, I missed posting about the Roguelike Celebration.  (via) Software Heritage, archiving code.  (thanks, Siju) Classic computers in Lego.  Cuter than I thought possible.  (via) Spleen - Monospaced bitmap fonts.  A teeny terminal font,…[...]

Lazy Reading for 2018/10/14 – DragonFly BSD Digest

DragonFly BSD Digest

Monday marks a quarter century of classless routing, or CIDR.

25 years since Class A, B, and C addresses were the standard.

On #CIDRDay, saying "class C address" outside a historic/ironic context is a request for enthusiastic wedgies.

Otherwise: cider!

How will you celebrate? #sysadmin #netadmin

@phessler Cool. Have a toast to #CIDRDay at the closing dinner.
