@AlisonCreekside
This is disgusting. Poilivere’s anti-union, anti-worker record speaks for itself!

Has anyone checked in with the union leaders in the States who backed Trump to see how that went?

@cbcnews Air Canada could have averted those expenses by simply negotiating in good faith and paying flight attendants for all work. The company should take the passengers compensation out of the undeserved salaries and bonuses of the executives who, by unethically extracting unpaid labour, necessitated the strike.

Seeing a lot of handwringing in the news about the effect of the #PostalStrike on consumer’s holiday shopping and possible future damage to the corporation as folks switch to other carriers, but virtually nothing about what the employees are striking for.

Congratulations! 🥳

This is something I wasn’t aware of:

“Under Canadian labor law, a union may be automatically certified if the employer is found to have violated labor rights during the organizing campaign—for instance, by harassing worker-organizers or preventing them from talking about the union during non-work hours.”

Walmart Warehouse Workers Win First Union in Canada

Eight hundred workers near Toronto have won the first Walmart warehouse union in Canada or the U.S. “Honestly I was pretty nervous at first because I didn’t want to lose my job,” said 29-year employee Rodolfo Pilozo, a member of “Team Red,” the organizing committee behind the September victory. The Walmart distribution center is in Mississauga, Ontario, an hour from the western New York border. Workers there began organizing last December to join Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union. Forty percent signed union cards over the summer.

Who else remembers that time that #Walmart shut down a store in #Jonquiere, QC after its staff unionized, then painted the whole thing grey and left it there as a warning to others?

Canada’s unions: urgent action needed to end Islamophobia, protect Muslim communities | Canadian Labour Congress

On the second National Day of Remembrance of the Québec City Mosque Attack and Action against Islamophobia, and the sixth anniversary of the horrific attack, Canada’s unions remember the victims and survivors, and continue to call for increased government action to address rising hate. “This day serves as an important reminder of the lethal impacts of Islamophobia and the need for government and all Canadians to commit to taking action against hate for a safer and more inclusive Canada for all,” said Bea Bruske, President of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).
