India – Climate Performance Ranking 2023 | Climate Change Performance Index

India shows high-level climate performance, ranking 8th in the current CCPI. Its emissions are on track to meet the 2030 target, though the renewable energy pathway is not.

Climate Change Performance Index | The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) is a scoring system designed to enhance transparency in international climate politics.

In the #CCPI2023, New Zealand ranked 33rd and is among the medium-performing countries. We see need for improvement in all four CCPI categories:

👉GHG emissions (very low)
👉Renewable Energy (high)
👉Energy Use (low)
👉Climate Policy (medium)

New Zealand shows medium-level climate performance, at 33rd, in the current CCPI. Its mixed performance is seen, for example, in renewable energy, with ambitious aims but persistent coal, oil, and gas exploration.

#ErneuerbareEnergien: In dieser Kategorie zeigt sich die Diskrepanz noch deutlicher.

Bis 2030 sollen laut Plan der Bundesregierung 23,2% Prozent der Energieversorgung aus Erneuerbaren kommen. Kompatibel mit dem 1,5-Grad-Ziel wäre aber ein Anteil aufwärts von 53,9%. #CCPI2023

#Energieverbrauch: Zwar sinkt der Pro-Kopf-Verbrauch seit 2015 jedes Jahr auf zuletzt 129,4 Gigajoule (2020), aber das aktuelle Ziel der #Bundesregierung für 2030 (121,3 GJ) liegt deutlich über einem Verbrauch kompatibel mit dem #PariserKlimaabkommen (97,7 GJ). #CCPI2023
