A flock of bushtits taking a collective bath. I love the one up in the air; it looks like it plans to plop on down in the middle and send up a tsunami! 🀣 🌊

Taking a break from Geese to share a picture I took yesterday of some adorable Bushtits. They are so small and hyperactive, and seemingly immune to the effects of gravity that I'm always thrilled when I get a clear shot of them.

The smallest birbs! Bushtits, Hummingbirds, Red-breasted Nuthatch and Golden-crowned Kinglets! Some of the more challenging subjects from last year, these little ones gave me quite the workout and crash course in photography and I'm so proud of how some of these turned out!

Have about 3 more posts worth of my Favorite 2024 Photos to go and then I'll start posting some newer pics!

I think eight Bushtits at the bird bath at the same time qualifies as a pool party. What say you?

I was surprised with how many little birds I was able to spot and photograph with my 85mm lens when I was walking around Stanley Park full of snow on Wednesday. Just as I walked into the park I found this large flock of bushtits going over a tree looking for food (berries, I suppose?) and making a ruckus.

Here's a couple of the ones I managed to snap.

just some bushtits for the #bushtits hashtag

Linda spotted three bushtit fledglings on the street in front of our house – not-quite ready-to-fly fledglings who either fell out of the nest or got pillaged by a larger bird?

One didn’t make it, but these two spent a few minutes in this box while I called Portland Audubon for advice – which was to leave them near the nest (but under protective cover) so their parents could find and care for them.

Checked out the window just now, and mom and dad are on it! ☺️

More baby bushtits. This one kept their body close to the branch; maybe they're still learning and gaining leg strength. Another fledgling watched from down the branch.

I stopped to record their calls after this. I'll process that file someday.
