"All the barriers and obstacles which confront a person have only one purpose: to heighten his yearning for the holy deed which he needs to accomplish." - Likutei Etzot
That's traffic, boredom, everything. Rather than downplaying the least dramatic of our acts, or even those acts which we want to actively ignore, we should embrace them as important.
I love Judaism's enthusiasm for imbueing the everyday with spiritual importance. It's not only the moment of triumphant that's special, it's not only the leading lady who gets her flowers. It's also that time you had to fill out all that paperwork, or that time you stubbed your toe.
It all gets you where you need to go. So say your brachas, right!? Not in case your Rabbi's listening, and not even for Hashem. It's the rituals that heighten your yearning, after all. And that's what makes the world go round.
