¿Sabían que el "Monstruo de Borneo" es una leyenda que cobró relevancia global en 2009 debido a una fotografía que supuestamente mostraba a una serpiente gigante de más de 30 metros de largo nadando en el río Baleh?

La criatura es conocida localmente como Nabau, una deidad serpiente de la mitología del pueblo Iban en Sarawak, Malasia. Según la tradición oral, el Nabau es una serpiente mística con poderes sobrenaturales capaz de cambiar de forma, a menudo descrita con siete fosas nasales o incluso con cabeza de dragón. Los relatos antiguos sugieren que poseer una de sus escamas otorga fuerza sobrehumana y protección a los guerreros.

El interés mediático moderno surgió tras la difusión de una imagen aérea captada por un equipo de vigilancia de desastres naturales. En la fotografía se observaba una silueta serpentiforme desplazándose por las aguas del río Baleh, lo que generó comparaciones inmediatas con el Monstruo del Lago Ness. Sin embargo, análisis realizados por especialistas en fotografía y biología indicaron que la imagen presentaba inconsistencias geométricas respecto al tamaño de los árboles y las ondas del agua, concluyendo que se trataba de un montaje digital o de una formación natural de sedimentos y troncos arrastrados por la corriente.

A pesar de la falta de evidencia física sobre el Nabau, la isla de Borneo alberga ejemplares reales de la pitón reticulada (Malayopython reticulatus), que es la serpiente más larga del mundo y puede alcanzar longitudes de hasta 6 metros en libertad.

i keep seeing #lithium recommended, and then subsequently unrecommended — as hype trains go, as a valuable #nutrition supplement for all kinds of things. one of those of benefits that interests to me in particular is as a supposed aid for #depression 🤷

#Bario salt is one of those things that gets brought up a lot for its lithium content… and perhaps other trace minerals when really looking at this[1], it’s just salt.

that said, in spite of its other boring composition it does have a very unique “metallic” flavour. it cooks well with sours foods and it’s main purpose in my kitchen.

what is less boring however is that we have no idea where it comes from[1] since it’s “harvested” from the #Borneo highlands. salt deposits usually don’t last too well in our insane tropical rainy climate :D

and hey, the packaging is hella cool.
