Jim Bolger, New Zealand's last PM under the first-past-the-post system, has died aged 90.
He always seemed to be a fundamentally decent person, unlike almost all of his National Party successors.

This time of year, my mind of course turns to John Madden, American football, and the "Turducken."
But today I learned that Ray Bolger, who played the Scarecrow in the 1939 movie "Wizard of Oz," recorded a children's album in 1946 titled "The Churkendoose," doing Madden one better by including a goose with the other 3 birds. (The recording was conducted by Mitch Miller!)
