Autumn has arrived today, bringing rain (which is sorely needed here too) and wind; summer is definitely over. But I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy a few warm afternoon hours on 1 and 2 October, soaking up the last warming rays of sunshine at (and in) the swimming pond at https://www.LBN-Duisburg.de.
I took it easy each day and set off on a bike ride in the late morning. At around 1 p.m., I arrived at the LBN grounds to take advantage of the sunny weather and soak up some vitamin D for 2-3 hours. As it was almost windless, it was simply perfect sunshine so late in the year and definitely the last opportunity for the foreseeable future, and it was probably my last swim of the year.

Pickleball Fever in the Philippines
First, let’s talk pickleball—not the nudist version, just the friendly paddle sport that’s taken Metro Manila and beyond by storm. Pickleball reached our shores in 2016 via Cebu and quickly grew into a national phenomenon. By 2024, there were 181 clubs and over 10,700 registered players; as of March 2025, those numbers have soared to 211 clubs and more than 13,000 members.
This wasn’t some fringe game—it’s found its way into barangay gyms, malls, seaside courts, and even our societal rhythm. The Philippine Pickleball Federation earned recognition from the Philippine Olympic Committee in May 2024, and “Street Pickleball” events in Pasig have become weekend staples.
In short, regular pickleball has almost outpaced basketball in popularity.

If Naturism was all about exhibitionists with perfect bodies and gifted genitalia, then I certainly wouldn't be classed as a Naturist.

I was waist-deep in the pool, waiting for the volleyball to come back over the net, when a horrifying thought hit me: I’ve forgotten to put clothes on! My stomach dropped as I was instantly transported into my worst nightmare, hyper-aware of my completely bare body. That is, until a split second later when I remembered (duh) that everyone else playing pool volleyball was naked too.
That’s because I was at a clothing-optional resort on Mexico’s east coast. And far from being a nightmare, it was an experience I’d been looking forward to for months.
Locked away behind a gate and high fences within a larger resort, this (sort of) secret oasis could host about 60 people and came complete with a private bar, two restaurants, jacuzzis, ocean-front daybeds, salsa classes, circus performances, and more.
My good friend (a long-time naturist) and I stuck out the moment we arrived, with nearly every other guest seeming to be a married couple in their 50s or older. They all seemed to be regulars too, telling us about the multiple visits they make each year with enthusiasm and loyalty that seems to ring true for all naturist spots.
Even the staff were passionate, with the receptionist jokingly calling the clothed areas of the resort “the dark side” when we checked in (though I laughed when I later learned the clothed guests used the same nickname for this spot)...

**Annual skinny dip had become 'sea of cameras'**

The organiser of a popular skinny dip said photography rules had to be brought in after the event turned from a "sea of bodies" into a "sea of cameras".
Jax Higginson, 47, from Sunderland, organises the North East Skinny Dip, which will be held at Druridge Bay in Northumberland on Sunday morning.
When the event started 13 years ago, Ms Higginson said social media was not as prominent and there was no need to limit the use of cameras.
But as the event grew in popularity, she said many complained too many phones were "ruining" their skinny dip experience.
She said the issue first became apparent a couple of years ago.
"Even I, as someone who is less bothered by cameras and unafraid of being seen - even I was shocked by the number of cameras.
"Instead of a sea of bodies, it had become a sea of cameras," she said.
Last year, she found she had put "people's backs up" by suggesting a blanket-ban on photography.
Consequently, this year photographs will be limited to one area of the beach only, meaning "people are free to make a choice"...

'For me, nude hiking is both freedom and health. By the time I stop, remove my shoes and socks, and walk barefoot, I feel completely part of nature,' he told Daily Mail. 'I regularly hike 20km to 35km a day, often carrying a 17–25kg pack depending on how remote I venture... it feels like a walking meditation. 'While it's unlikely to cure any serious illness, it provides the exercise I need as I'm overweight, and those regular hikes help me keep my weight in check.' But, while Australia has nude beaches, Mr Marty said there is only a handful of legal locations and many 'unofficial grey areas'...
