The blue supermoon!

For those who may not have seen recent news stories: you get a blue moon whenever there are 2 full moons in the same month. Coincidentally, the moon was at its closest point last night (because the Earth's orbit is elliptical). This won't happen again until 2037. It's not a big deal astronomy-wise, but still a fun observation to make!

Once I realized the forecast was for a clear night, I safeguarded time to set up the spotting scope and have my digiscope ready for my phone. Seeing Saturn nearby was a bonus, though my photos of the ringed planet make it look more like a UFO
