[P] I just... I really don't like this new, surfacing trend. I'm so sick of bio-essentialism. I mean, we could depict "monsters' as equals and perhaps lay the foundations for a better future. Hahaha. Nahhh. That isn't thrilling. There isn't enough dopamine in that. No, let's make ourselves afraid for the dopamine hit, and subconsciously normalise doing grotesque things to anyone who isn't Us. [P] The new hotness of this bio-essentialism is deeply sexist, focused on mothers and daughters, and that makes my brain itch. I don't like this, because things that happen to "monsters" in fiction don't take long to transition over to persons who aren't Us in the minds of neurotypicals. I don't like what that suggests. [P] Atrocities can be normalised by depicting them through non-humans. I mwan, let's be frank. There isn't much of a jump between a monster in fiction and a black slave for Americans of that period. I look at fiction and I see horrors visited upon "monsters," where the only alleviation that comes is when a human (almost always white) decidea to "save" them from their own supposed savagery. I've always found it unsettling.

[P] See, this is what bothers me. "It's just fiction. Lawl." No, it isn't, you blithering idiot. It sits in the human psyche, stories become a part of language and expression. So if stories are always depicting the separation and torture of mothers and daughters, that makes it fine to do that to anyone we declare non-human in reality, right? And scientific atudies have shown it DOES have this effect on the psyche.

[P] I understand a lot about neurotypicals, but this one frustrates me. Why is the attempt made to normalise tuis? And there is an attempt being made because—as I said—I've seen this countless times before. I've spoken with neurotypicals about this and the attitude is: "Why do you care? They're just monsters." Cool. Cool. It's not like humanity doesn't have a troubling history of rendering people persona non grata.

[P] I've seen this play out so many times. I just saw it recently in the GodIlla MonaterVerse again with Tiamat and Lahamu. I don't understand why distressing mothers and daughters with separation and tortute is a point of glee. I don't think I'm enough of a monster to get it, I'm thankful for that but it still frustrates me. I mean, isn't this played out in reality too with the likes of the Judge Rotenberg Center?
