“The woman on the bike — Anne Sobol, a member of the safety team for #BikePGH, which organizes #OpenStreetsPGH — suffered bruises on her legs but said she wasn't in pain. No major injuries were reported at the scene.
“Someone tried to open the barricade at the end to let her off the course, but instead she turned around and accelerated back towards everybody again," Sobol told WESA. "So I got in front of the car and she hit me, and I’m going to be pressing charges."

Today was the first #OpenStreetsPGH organized by #BikePGH. Usually the last Sundays summer months, this event is a fantastic way to experience a stretch of streets car-free. Showing us a world where walkers, strollers, wheelchairs, skaters, and bicyclists can travel safely.

Unfortunately, a seemingly road raged driver accelerated past barricades and hit a member of the safety team who was able to successfully stop the driver from causing more harm. #BikeTooter #bike

@slott56 @offby1 TBH I don't know of any offhand as I've generally just used the dockable ones when I was working in the city pre-pandemic and a bit in 2023. I know Pittsburgh has many more e-bikes available on the rental bike dock situation now but I cannot vouch for their constant availability so looking for a place you can rent one for a week is a worthwhile endeavor.

@bruce bikes a lot and might have a better lead. #bikepgh is the org you want to look up and they'll have much better info.

@Will talk to #bikePGH folks who got Allegheny Cemetery opened to riders (after years of pushing) maybe ten years ago or so.

My daily commute for ~4 years was through St Mary's next door, though I think that was closed to bikes sometime later. 😾

The sun came out! (Yesterday, now we’re back to business as usual) #bikepgh
