The West Coast main line from London Euston to Scotland has reopened after parts of it were closed for upgrades over the Early May bank holiday.

Yippee, I #blogged! #Today I've been writing about our local pub, the Brickmaker's Arms in #Berkswell, and the family who lived there in 1839 and for most of the century before that (long before it was a pub!). Would they have been thrilled or horrified to know what happened to their family home after they left?

#today was a glorious morning so I walked through #OldnallEnd to #Berkswell. On the way I passed through what in 1839 was called Ram Field. I think its new residents might have something to say about that name!

Glorious, cold, misty morning #today on the Greenway in #OldnallEnd between #BalsallCommon and #BurtonGreen. The trees on the horizon form the boundary between fields that in 1839 were called Middle Close and Far Close, named for their position in relation to a farmstead now long gone.

Inspired by this week's walks, #today I went to the #library and picked up all these fab #books about #Berkswell. I read them all when I first moved here, but now I've learned more about our #LocalHistory it's like meeting old friends. Libraries ROCK.
