Yesterday’s ‘see-through’ BLMC ADO16 estate seemed to be popular, so here’s another cutaway, this time of the original Mini - an early version as you can tell from details such as the external door hinges. Once again, the space-efficiency of the transverse-engined Issigonis designs is very apparent. Snapped at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in 2023.

Also at #FOTU, this lovely example of the #BLMC ADO16 1100/1300 in MG-badged form. The FWD ADO16 was conceptually the big brother to the Mini and was a huge seller in the UK market in the sixties and seventies, success that came to an end when it was phased out in favour of the #Allegro in 1973. Sadly, this was probably one of the worst examples of a manufacturer ‘dropping the ball’ with a model changeover in motor industry history. #FestivalOfTheUnexceptional #WeirdCarMastodon #davidsdailycar
