Enjoyed the Army Ten-Miler last Sunday.
Glad race organizers overcame the shutdown.
Best part of the race?: The Army Band (Pershing's Own) having multiple brass quintets playing along the route.
Had never participated in a race with that many people! Lesson learned: arriving too early based on my start time threw off my pre-race prep routine.
If I run the race next year, I hope to start in an earlier wave.

Ran the Army Ten-Miler through Washington, D.C. this morning.
Lots of supporters on the sidewalks with signs of encouragement. The best sign I saw read:
"You're Running Better Than The Government!"
That got a pretty good chuckle from me.
The Army Ten-Miler is back on!
Airline and hotel reservations are confirmed.
The Washington, D.C. weather is looking good.

This isn't just about a race; it’s about thousands of soldiers and supporters who are leaderless. The financial strain this puts on families—especially with non-refundable flights and hotel bookings—could have been avoided. Do something.
This does not sound very hopeful:
"We want to share an important update regarding the In-Person Army Ten-Miler Race, 12 October. A decision of whether to cancel the In-Person Army Ten-Miler Race based on unforeseen circumstances will be made no later than October 8, 2025. You will immediately be notified once the decision is made. The ATM Virtual Race will continue as planned."
Final long run in preparation for the Army Ten-Miler, scheduled for this coming Sunday in Washington, D.C. ... assuming the race does not get canceled because of the #shutdown
The last time I ran this far was 2006 when a friend talked me into running a HM that I was fully unprepared for. And the time before that was 1995, when I was in excellent shape.
I am happy with this morning and looking forward to next Sunday.
14 days to go until the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C. Started the run in the pitch black early hours and learned I need to charge my Noxgear Tracer lamp more often. At mile two, the light died and plunged me into the dark. Won't be making that mistake again.
