"Tyr" Announced As New Rust-Written Linux Kernel Graphics Driver

An unexpected announcement this Friday evening is an introduction to Tyr, a new Linux kernel DRM graphics driver written in the Rust programming language

My wife and I wanted to play a bit #Minecraft together, but sadly I could not get it to run on my laptop, which has an #ArmMali GPU for which I am using the #Panfrost driver.

It seems that Minecraft shaders require GLSL 1.50, which is not supported by Panfrost...

I managed to get a window that immediately closes again, a pink window, and a black window....
(I have not tried gl4es - that _might_ have worked...)

In the end we gave up and played #VoxeLibre instead, which worked out of the box.
