Here’s a sobering thought: the difference between the outsize gorilla from Ape vs. Mecha Ape and its Godzilla vs. Kong counterpart is negligible — it’s the difference between cheap CGI and expensive, cheap-looking CGI. This Asylum mockbuster is also a lot shorter than Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as much less stupid (oh, it’s plenty stupid, but at least there’s no hollow Earth bullshit).

A ★ review of Ape vs. Mecha Ape (2023)

I'll give it this...got a lot of plot...shame that gets in the way of Ape vs Mecha Ape action. I get trying to build up to the big fight, but the story makes no sense, hinges on absurd convenience and is not helped by the usual Asylum level acting, or the Asylum standard CGI. Some decent attempt at commentary on war industrial complex and animal rights. If you aren't a fan of cheesy, low budget so bad it is almost good, there is nothing here for you.
