The Progressive Creative Honour Licence: The Most Left protects dignity while granting radical creative freedom. It prohibits abuse, harassment, and harmful uses. It’s a framework for ethical creativity — empowering creators without turning them into products.

It is saddening how many #organizations focused on #privacy, #AntiAbuse and #AntiHarassmentandBullying maintain their online presences exclusively on the horror triad of platforms, #X, #Facebook and #Instagram.

A thing that just clicked for me is that a lot of folks on here engaging in Discourse about search, federation rules, QTs etc are conflating abuse-resistant design with security by obscurity as if they are the same thing. Which they are not, and conflating the two makes conversations about them impossible.

@[email protected] The problem as I see it is that the first people who truly jumped ship, abandoning twitter completely years ago, were the most politically extreme and personally oddball, and now they feel that they are the real mastodon users and the rest are johnny-come-lately posers. (I opened an account on masto when it was quite new, but there wasn't enough network effect to keep me here until Recent Events.) We on twitter heard about ridiculously overblown personal dramas on masto every now and then between these most hardcore original users and it didn't encourage us to jump in. And now that we're here, they're not happy to be reminded that most people see many features as pretty desirable with some drawbacks rather than absolutely horrifically unthinkable. I don't see a general satisfactory answer to this culture clash - the hardcore aren't wrong to want what they want, and I don't want to advocate for a purely numeric approach where whatever the largest faction wants trumps all other concerns. But I do think there are some people who need to realize that what they want is either not to be on a social media platform in the first place, or to abolish the NSA, which is a bit out of scope.

👋🏽 - i'm a weird techie nerd doing a midlife crisis. I currently am awaiting my demise at the Tweet Factory and contemplating what's next. I worked on #antiabuse and applied #MLethics there with a wonderful team.

I wanted to be *less* professional on here than on twitter - there was an odd effect from being on Tweep twitter, but i did quite like the professional networking bit of twitter, so idk what this will be just yet.

"Like, just say "I want my platform, because it's clearly mine, and not the userbase's, to work this way because it's the only way it'd make sense to me, and I do not care which users it harms, alienates or disenfranchises, no matter how hard some of them have been working to popularize said platform even while I've been acting in a hostile manner toward them using it.""
