is there a super snappy way to refer to the procrastination pattern where you use a thing you are extremely avoidant of to get a shitload of other stuff you've been avoiding done?

feel like most of my productivity comes from this pattern, it has to be studied and have a name, right?

Had a really great day today playing #boardgames with some local friends that I made via Fedi. Good people, good times, and some really great games at one of the best gaming venues in town, the Emerald Tavern!

We played games like #Anomia, #VillagePillage, Coup (not putting this in a hashtag intentionally cuz, you know, US politics), and #CursesAndCovens.

Curses & Covens was really fun to play and we had to learn as we went because nobody had played it before and one of the folks bought it because it "looked interesting". It's an all-vs-one game for 4-6 players where one witch hunter is attempting to capture 5 witches from the rest of the townsfolk who are trying to help the witches create covens. The twist is that a lot of the cards are shown face-up while the "townies" strategize in full view and earshot of the witch hunter. Cards are dealt after the strategy, and no more strategizing is allowed, so sometimes those stratagems can either work out as planned or blow up in the faces of the townies. It's a fairly quick game once everybody groks the rules, and we played maybe 6 or 7 games of it all told.

Anyway, it was a good night of IRL connection and playing some rad new games.

But next time, I swear I'm gonna introduce these people to Scythe and make some converts, or I'm not comin'!   

In the wasteland of anomie, where purpose dissolves, anomia leaves us speechless before the void, anomaly mocks our search for order, & anemoia aches for a past that never was: a quartet of ghosts haunting the ruins of meaning.

I was relatively quiet yesterday because I spent pretty much all day playing #boardgames with local  choom @ety and a bunch of (hopefully) new friends from the local Board Games Consortium here. Around 10 hours of gaming madness yesterday!

We played things like #SpaceBase, #CthulusVault, #Root, #Anomia, #TuringMachine, #Guilliotine, and several other games of which I can't recall the names at the moment. I won one, lost most of the rest. But it was fun, fun, fun!

My personal crowning achievement was finally being able to play Cyberpunk #GangsOfNightCity with actual people (and a full complement at that)! According to the rules, the game maxes out at 5 players (which kind of sucks, considering there are 3 additional gangs and 2 Nomad clans with the Badlands expansion), but we played the tutorial mission to get everyone familiar with the mechanics and that still took like 3 hours. But I learned a lot about game having a "full boat" of players. I know what I'm going to do different next time, for sure!

The one thing I forgot to do was take pictures of GONC in it's full, in-progress glory!     

So much fun, and I'm looking forward to doing it again soonish. Thanks for the invite, @ety !

#anomia time: what's the term for a word like "justice" that takes on such a constellation of so many different meanings, depending on context (speaker, etc.,) that it becomes almost meaningless?

like... a palimpsest for everyone to squeeze their own interpretation onto?

I feel like there's a simple term or phrase, but maybe there's not.
