“Anemoia” digital photography. Anemoia means a feeling of nostalgia for a time or a place that you’ve never experienced. This is what this photograph evokes in me. While the picture was taken in Amsterdam in the 21st century, it makes me travel to the mid century. I’ve always felt nostalgic of that period in time despite having not lived it, and knowing that for many reasons I probably would not have enjoyed living in it. It probably comes with the territory of living in the age of hyperconnectivity, a want for a life devoid of what we consider modernism.
