The Linux Foundation today announced it will host a new open source code base of agricultural field boundaries.

This will enable things like food traceability, carbon tracking, productivity and runoff monitoring, disease and pest progression, and more.

With fears of looming food scarcity, a tool like this couldn’t come at a better time.
