On 16 October 1968, an unforgettable moment unfolded at the Olympic Games in Mexico City. As the US national anthem played, two sprinters, Tommie Smith (centre) and John Carlos (right), raised their gloved fists in the Black Power salute in silent protest against racism in the United States. They wore beads and scarves to represent their opposition to lynchings and black socks with no shoes to raise awareness about Black poverty in the US.

African Stream banned by Meta and YouTube - African Stream

African Stream has been banned by Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. We were censored after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made false, unsubstantiated claims against us on Friday. To be clear, contrary to the accusations, African Stream does not receive any funding from any state. We will shorty release a full statement regarding our work,

African Stream is under ATTACK! - African Stream

African Stream is under attack! Since our inception less than two years ago, we’ve attempted to reshape the narratives surrounding Africa and African people. In doing so, we seem to have upset some very powerful people.   On Friday 13th, the United States government launched a coordinated assault against us. Antony Blinken, US Secretary of

Two weeks ago I discovered Patrick Gathara. He made me laugh while mocking the USA mass media's weekly magazine tone toward elections in foreign countries.^1 He is a cartoonist and writer(!!) in Kenya. He got me ready to enjoy these Kenyan (or based-in-Kenya) journalists mockery of NBC.. It's also good to learn about PEE.

.> ... to your more serious and defamatory allegation that we spread misinformation. Not sure how you do journalism at NBC, but at African Stream, we ensure that our journalists follow the basic principles of Point, Evidence, Explain (PEE). Simply put, if you are to make a point like you have here, claiming we are spreading misinformation, then you need examples to back up your point (something you have failed to provide) and then, finally, to explain how your examples back up your point. You need to drastically improve on two of the three fronts.

The banning of #Youtube and #SocialMedia channels belonging to #marginalized communities, that are silenced as soon as they begin to gain an audience, and voice their opinions, is an act of #DigitalAssasination. It does to digital communities what "Washington's bullets" do to #grassroots movements when their leaders are killed.

I really don’t like #AnthonyBlinken. Why is the US shutting down #AfricanStream on US social media? Who next, #AlJazeera? Your staff are trampling the first amendment, #JoeBiden.

Artisans still use the country’s red soil to create #bronze #sculptures, just as their ancestors did decades before."
