One of my favorite things that has come out of the Japanese adoption of the Western #fantasy RPG genre is the concept of the #AdventurersGuild. I've been into #RPGs since the early 80s and seriously into #anime since the early 90s (other than the few anime that were shown on US television before that, like Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato), but it was really "Record of Lodoss War" that was the first rebound from Japan that gave us a look at how they interacted with #DnD and #TTRPGs.

Knowing what I know now, if I had my life to do over, I definitely would make vastly different choices.

I would have liked to have lived as an #adventurer, like, in the #DnD #TTRPG sense, but in the real world.

I want to #travel the world according to my own whims, see its sights, meet its people, come to know their cultures, and do the honest work of slaying #monsters, collecting #treasures, and documenting my work.

If I ever hit the big lottery, I'm going start a real #AdventurersGuild.

I just can't imagine being a rich person and wanting to waste your life trying to control other people.

Man, if I was rich, I'd start a real-life #AdventurersGuild. I'd hire costumers, musicians, actors, jugglers, and acrobats, and build a #fantasy RPG themed wicked awesome #tavern #brewpub #gastropub with great food and drinks, game rooms for people to rent for their #TTRPG sessions, a book and game store next door, inn lodging rooms, timberframe building, hearths, the whole works.

Wouldn't it be so cool to be an #adventurer in modern society? Travelling from place to place, picking up odd jobs. We should start an #AdventurersGuild, like in #anime and #manga.

The closest thing I can think of in real life is something like Traveler's Aid International, or to some extent, the organizations founded to provide housing and assistance to sailors and seamen.
