AGI - Centinaia di manifestanti hanno partecipato oggi a Roma al corteo di solidarietà con il Venezuela, partito dall’Esquilino e diretto verso l’ambasciata degli Stati Uniti in via Veneto, per protestare contro la cattura del presidente Nicolás Maduro. Durante il percorso, all’altezza di via Bissolati, alcuni manifestanti hanno bruciato bandiere americane, in un gesto simbolico di protesta contro gli Stati Uniti. Il corteo si è poi concluso davanti alla sede diplomatica Usa, dove si sono susseguiti interventi e slogan contro quella che gli organizzatori definiscono “un’aggressione alla sovranità venezuelana”.

Alla manifestazione è intervenuto in videochiamata anche Nicolás Maduro Guerra, figlio del presidente venezuelano, catturato lo scorso 3 gennaio insieme alla moglie nell’operazione statunitense denominata “Absolute Resolve”. “Vi ringrazio, siate forti”, ha detto rivolgendosi ai manifestanti. “Li riporteremo indietro e festeggeremo. Sono grato a tutti voi, siamo fiduciosi che torneranno. Viva i popoli liberi del mondo”. L’intervento si è concluso con i manifestanti che hanno intonato in coro “El pueblo unido jamás será vencido”. Non si segnalano per ora incidenti.

AGI - Hundreds of protesters participated today in Rome in a solidarity march with Venezuela, departing from Esquilino and heading towards the United States Embassy on Via Veneto, to protest the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro. During the route, near Via Bissolati, some protesters burned American flags, a symbolic gesture of protest against the United States. The march then concluded in front of the US diplomatic headquarters, where interventions and slogans were held against what the organizers define as “an aggression against Venezuelan sovereignty.”

President Nicolás Maduro Guerra, who was captured alongside his mother last January 3rd as part of the US operation “Absolute Resolve,” also spoke via video call. “Thank you, be strong,” he said to the protesters. “We will bring them back and celebrate. I am grateful to all of you, we are confident they will return. Long live the free peoples of the world.” The speech concluded with the protesters chanting “El pueblo unido jamás será vencido” (The people united will never be defeated). There have been no incidents reported so far.
