Is it a real band? Is it just fantasy?

Looks like 'The Velvet Sundown' could be an AI con, at least judging from their fake band pics, generic copy, and nice but unoriginal music.

Spotify's been pushing this group to users for the last few weeks. It now has more than 630,000 monthly listeners. If it's AI-generated, who gets the cash? Prompters? Spotify? Who knows.

Music producer Rick Beato analysed it (ironically, with an AI tool) and thinks it's likely to be AI. The tool has issues separating the tracks; it's all a big mash-up, likely from feeding AI with lots of low-quality MP3s.

He says the problem with AI-generated bands is that "they are getting paid on the work of other people that learn to play instruments, that learn to write songs, learn to write lyrics...."

Sound familiar? It's no different in content writing and translating.

At least *label* copy and music as AI-generated, for goodness' sake.

Just looked at someone's testimonials section on their website.

Realised that the profile shot thumbnails of the "clients" are completely AI-generated. (Right-clicked on them and selected "Search image with Google" to check that.) 🚩

Not too sure about the testimonials' authenticity now, either. 🚩

Or the web copy. 🚩
