This scary precedent could soon affect workers of any industry, anywhere in Canada.

We're calling on all unions and workers to support The Alberta Teachers' Association and demand irrevocable protections for workers right to strike!

Shame on Danielle Smith and the Alberta UCP!

Remember folks, if they use it on the teachers they can use it on you. It’s the first rule fascism.

If you think you don’t have skin in the game because you don’t have kids in school, you are mistaken.

Attached: 1 image They're doing it. They are using the notwithstanding clause to strip away CHARTER RIGHTS. They will be fining teachers $500/day and locals $500,000/day if they use their charter rights. In Legislature today, the UCP hammered the point that teachers don't know anything about classroom complexity, academic researchers don't know anything about the effects of class sizes, and the only people who could possibly know anything about classrooms are whatever sort of "task force" of UCP loyalists the government can put together to ignore all academic research on classroom topics. This is an authoritarian fascist crackdown. Now we can expect the teachers to return on Wednesday. This is a massive responsibility we CANNOT put on the teachers to bear on themselves. They have fought incredibly on the front lines. However, this is going to ripple across the entire labour movement, especially in public services, and there will be massive repercussions. Besides that, our public education system is entirely SCREWED FOR 5 YEARS! Charter rights will be completely stripped until August 2028. Nobody will be able to strike or demand anything better for our schools for an entire 5 years, and our public education system will fade into obscurity, probably completely replaced by privatized schooling. She has hammered the nail into the coffin, and we will never recover. #abpoli #education #fascism #union #strike
