I already bought some #DungenessCrabs from #99Ranch that apparently came from up north in Oregon or Washington because the local crab season still isn't officially due to start until Monday 1/5.

But also just heard on #KPIX5 news that crabbers may further delay the sale of local crab due to a lack of a pricing agreement between them & wholesalers.

I paid $11/# for the ones I got & I still remember paying as much as $17/# when they were really scarce. The least that I recall spending in recent memory was $8/#.

So, anything between $8-11/# would be fine with me. I'd be willing to pay more if I had to but probably would only buy 1 instead of 2.🤷.

PS: I just took a peek at CA crab fishing regulations. What a confusing mess. Can't imagine why anyone would want to be crabber when faced with the morass of regs, an extremely limited crabbing season & low prices offered for their catch.🤦

Was in the mood for steamed #DungenessCrab for dinner today, #NewYearsDay.😋

Didn't hear any official news but local crabbing is currently open on a limited basis from the Sonoma/Mendocino County line down to Pt. Lopez (where ever that is) in Monterrey County.

Wasn't sure if #99Ranch had any or not but took a trip blind to the 99Ranch in Concord to see it they did or not & they had some for $10.99/#.

Bought 2 & then stopped at #Raleys to buy some corn on the cob & sour dough bread to complete the meal which I'll make around 6pm.

Happy New Year to me & my GF who is sharing the meal with me!!! 😊

#ChineseFood

I just spent $45 for a few basics & a couple of impulse items at #99Ranch in Concord, including $5 (on sale, down from $6) for a 6 pack of preserved duck eggs.

All the other preserved duck eggs were selling for $6 each. Since when did #PreservedDuckEggs cost $1/each??? 🤔

I remember, less than a year ago, when they only cost about $3 for a pack of 6. A 100% increase in less than a year??? 🤔🤔

The tariffs much be the reason for this. Thanks, #DiaperDon!!! 🤬

The best deal I got today was about 2# of #WinterMelon that I got for just 79 cents/# which will make a lot of Doong Gwa Tong (Winter Melon Soup).

It's nice living near a supermarket where you can get a decent #chinese #breakfast on a whim. #food #culinary #99ranch
