Working 70 hours a week isn't the real issue.

Working 70 hours a week for (less than) 35 hours of pay is the issue.

Pay me enough to not have to worry about my family's well-being and I'll sacrifice my time with them and give it to you.

Except I get to decide how much is 'enough' in this context.

🤷‍♂️

"... to be able to work 70 hours a week, can be a privilege and is reserved for a particular population who does not have to face the realities of a gendered life with defined roles or the pressures of socio-cultural norms. To assume that ‘work’ is only in an office, further assumes that “working life” is limited to hours recorded in an office timesheet, and which does not recognise the other forms of ‘productive’ work that women have to perform daily..."

Indian women invest over 70 hours weekly in work: Is society ignoring?

As someone who is able to work whatever hours needed, my views are specific. (Also, I think that if you are lucky enough to like what you do, work on it is not very hard) But did not realise how contentious a topic this was for those with care work, external responsibilities, children, health issues, etc. It's such a different discussion altogether, & more about norm setting!
